Prof. Amos Neheman graduated in 1997, cum laude, from the Faculty of Medicine of the Technion in Haifa. He specialized in urology at the Carmel hospital, Haifa. In 2005 he expanded his professional expertise in pediatric urology and laparoscopis surgery at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, and the DuPont Children Hospital, Wilmington,DE, USA. Today Prof. Neheman is a specialist urologist, senior surgeon and chairman of the Urology Department at Meir Medical Center. He serves as a private urologist at the Assuta Medical Center in Tel Aviv and at the Herzliya Medical Center, where he provides consultations and performs urologic surgery, including robotic surgery for adults and children.

What is a urologist?

When do we seek help from a urologist?

Pediatric help: we may seek the help of a pediatric urologist as early as in the first stages of pregnancy, when monitoring arouses suspects of a possible inborn urologic defect. After birth, the urologist may provide medical circumcision for the baby and treat solve urologic condition such as undescended testicles and hydrocele (water in the testicle pouch). What is a Pediatric Urologist?

Diagnosing and treating children requires special knowledge and experience, because a child's physique behaves differently from adults and medical conditions and illnesses of children differ in their nature and require special attention. This is why pediatrics are a special field in medicine and calls for special education and training. This applies of course also to pediatric urology. Therefore, a specialist urologist needs to complement his basic training in urology by investing special studies and training.
